Spices Restaurant

The vision

Part of the redesigned Burgenstock Resort, the new Spices restaurant is a destination in its own right. Housed in a glass box cantilevered off the Burgenstock Hotel, it is suspended 450 metres above Lake Lucerne with a 180-degree panorama of lake, mountains, Lucerne and beyond. From the hotel, it can be reached by a bronze feature staircase that spirals upwards from the lounge and downwards to wine tasting cellars below.

Spices is gently zoned, from a quiet timber-clad lounge with collections of comfortable sofas and contemporary armchairs, to the vivacity of the open-kitchen and bar area where counter extensions allow diners to sit close to the action and onto the glazed box where the view “explodes” into the experience. Outside, a large terrace with its own bar is also zoned, the first area offering more formal dining arrangements while the farther, elevated area is furnished with armchairs around a large wood-stack firepit.
